Light More Homes

Home Court Pickleball Tournament

"Light More Homes” grew from the desire of Chuck Hammock, MMRHFH board member, to bring smiles to kids and adults at Christmas. Through animated Christmas lights synchronized to music, Hammock reminds people of “The Light of the World.” The display began as a small residential drive-by yard display that was broadcasted via FM radio. It moved indoors and was paired with the Live Out Loud Children’s Choir singing to the music and lights. In 2008 the event evolved into a significantly larger display enjoyed by thousands of adults and children. The display was at Chic-fil-a for a number of years but was relocated after their remodel. The event is currently held in Mercer Village, alongside Stadium Drive which has 180 candy cane wrapped trees. Each year, the display is enjoyed from Thanksgiving to New Years. The proceeds from the light show are applied to Macon Milledgeville Regional Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization program. Specifically, the goal of the event is to meet the electrical needs of 5 homes. Thus, the event lights more homes.

The Home Court Pickleball Tournament is an annual tournament held at Rhythm & Rally Sports & Events. The tournament is a 3-day event where individuals and doubles at all skill levels are able to compete. Home Court is typically the weekend of the first full week in October.

  • Women Build: An annual event held in Macon for over 20 years. Corporate teams of women from across the globe volunteer for their area's Habitat affiliate and come together to sponsor, build, and dedicate a home. It is a unique partnership of female community leaders and companies focused on women as mentors and executives.

  • Board Build: This build is sponsored and planned by the MMRHFH Executive Board.

  • Youth Build: A build completed in partnership with the Bibb County School District and funded through a YouthBuild grant. This build allows students to complete their high school diploma or earn their GED while completing requirements for a Construction Certificate through hands on experience on a Habitat job site.

  • Blitz Build: With their professional experience, career homebuilders utilize their diverse trade skills and in-kind donations to fund and build a Habitat home. 

  • Faith Build: A home constructed through the prayers, volunteer and financial support of the local faith community.
